Garlic parmesan wings are my move when I want something crispy, buttery, and packed with savory flavor. I season the wings first, fry them until golden, then toss them with warm garlic butter. Parmesan and parsley finish everything, and suddenly napkins feel optional.

Ingredient Breakdown
- Chicken Wings – Flats and drums both work well for this recipe. Frying gives the skin that crispy finish we want.
- Paprika – Adds warmth and helps build color on the wings.
- Kosher Salt – Seasons the chicken and keeps every bite from tasting flat.
- Black Pepper – Adds a little bite in the background.
- Garlic Powder – Builds garlic flavor into the chicken before the sauce goes on.
- Onion Powder – Adds another layer of savory flavor.
- Frying Oil – Use a neutral, high-heat oil that will not overpower the wings.
- Butter – Creates the rich base that helps the garlic and Parmesan coat the wings.
- Fresh Garlic – Gives the sauce its bold garlic flavor.
- Parmesan Cheese – Adds salty, nutty flavor and clings to the warm wings.
- Fresh Parsley – Adds freshness and a little color before serving.
How do I get crispy garlic parmesan wings?
Pat the wings dry before seasoning them. Making sure the skin is completely dry is essential. Heat the oil to 350°F before adding the chicken. Avoid overcrowding the pan because that can lower the oil temperature.
Storage & Reheating
Store any leftover wings in an airtight container for up to four days. For reheating, I avoid the microwave. Reheating wings in the microwave will result in skin that isn’t crispy. Instead, heat the wings in an air fryer for 7 minutes on 400 degrees. Keep in mind each air fryer heats differently. Or reheat in the oven at 350 degrees until they are crispy and warmed through.
Cooking variations
Bake them. If you don’t want to fry your wings, bake them in the oven and they will get just as crispy. Just add 1/2 a tablespoon of baking powder to the wings with your seasonings. Bake them in a preheated oven at 400 degrees for 35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Air fry. Add 1/2 a tablespoon of baking powder to the wings with the seasonings and toss. Cook in the air fryer at 400 degrees for twenty minutes flipping halfway.
Commonly Asked Questions
The wings should look golden and crispy on the outside. Check the thickest part for an internal temperature of 165°F.
Finely grated Parmesan coats the wings more evenly than larger shreds. It also mixes easily with the warm garlic butter.
Cook the minced garlic for only about 30 seconds. Stir constantly, then remove the pan from the heat.
