Ingredients for chili cheese fries

This is not a recipe with a small ingredient list. Since you’ll be making your own chili for this lots of things are needed but it’s so worth it. It may seem like a lot but it comes together easily.

For this recipe you will need:

  • ground beef
  • salt & pepper
  • red onion
  • habanero pepper
  • a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes
  • red pepper chili flakes
  • cajun seasoning
  • paprika
  • cumin
  • garlic powder
  • chili powder
  • brown sugar
  • beef broth
  • red kidney beans
  • shredded cheddar cheese
  • Frozen french fries
  • Scallions and sour cream for the toppings

How to make chili cheese fries

Making this recipe is easier than you think. You’ll need a large pan to make the chili first. Brown the ground beef then add the onions and peppers. After a few minutes add the diced tomatoes and all the seasonings. Lastly add the beef broth and red kidney beans.

While the chili is cooking, “cook” the frozen french fries according to the packaged directions. Serve the chili on top of the fries with the shredded cheese, scallions and sour cream.

The full directions with measurements are below on the recipe card.

Faqs & Tips for this recipe

Feel free to melt the cheese on top of the chili cheese fries. To do this preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Place the fries on a baking sheet and top with the chili and cheese. Bake until the cheese is melted.

Instead of a habanero pepper you can use a jalapeño pepper.

If you want it less spicy, use half the amount of chili powder.
