How to store and re-heat salmon croquettes

Store the salmon croquettes in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. The salmon patties also make excellent meal prep. Either freeze the patties before or after cooking. They will last in the freezer for 3 months.

Faqs for this recipe

Can I use fresh salmon instead of canned?

Yes! If using fresh salmon, cook it first, then flake it into small pieces before mixing with the other ingredients.

How do I keep my croquettes from falling apart?

Make sure the mixture isn’t too wet. If needed, add more panko or flour to help bind the patties together. Also, letting them chill in the fridge for 10-15 minutes before cooking can help.

Can I make salmon croquettes ahead of time?

Yes! You can prep the mixture and shape the patties up to 24 hours in advance. Keep them covered in the fridge until ready to fry.

What should I serve with salmon croquettes?

These go great with coleslaw, grits, mashed potatoes, or even a simple side salad.

What a delicious and flexible recipe. I used leftover fresh salmon because we happened to find a good deal on it and ate it for dinner last night… and now we’re going to get a second and possibly a third meal out of it because these salmon croquettes are NOBODY’S leftovers… My family was very happy with the flavorful mix of ingredients…and they were crispy, not too dry, but not falling apart, perfect croquette consistency…they cooked up beautifully on the stove in no time at all…and my family was very happy and is looking forward to having them again. So thank you for sharing your recipe. You have got fans in the northernmost part of New York State! (I do not want to forget that the Tartar sauce recipe is also a keeper!)

I made these today and they were completely delicious! The fresh dill was not overpowering at all. They were crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Who knew you could make gourmet food from canned salmon? I will be using your recipe from now on!

Just delicious! We loved the croquettes. I used a remoulade sauce instead of making the tartar sauce. Made it all the easier but wonderful. I served with peas and potatoes.
