This copycat McDonald’s shamrock shake recipe is so creamy and rich. It has the perfect amount of minty flavor and comes together in only six minutes.
I love when the Shamrock Shake comes to McDonald’s around St. Patrick’s day. I’m a huge fan of mint chip ice cream so this is right up my alley. Making this homemade version is so easy, quick and tasty. It’s a fun treat to make for this green holiday.
Ingredients for easy shamrock shake recipe
For this recipe you will need:
Vanilla ice cream – This is where the creaminess comes in. A good brand of vanilla ice cream will enhance the flavor.
Mint extract– The mint extract is where the minty flavor comes from. I love using it in other baked good as well.
Green food coloring – The green food coloring makes the shake the perfect shade of green.
Milk – The milk mixed with the ice cream makes it, well, a milkshake haha.
Faqs and Tips for this recipe
A great addition to the shamrock shake is to add crushed Oreos after pouring into your glass. Just crush up the Oreos using some saran wrap or parchment paper. I use a heavy rolling pin to crush them up.
Adding baileys in place of the milk will make a great mint flavored boozy shake. Just drink responsibly.
