Baked easy apple pie tart on top of parchment paper with powdered sugar sprinkled on top.

I make this recipe every year when apple picking season comes around. It’s such a great alternative to making a whole apple pie. I love an easy, simple delicious dessert and this apple pie tart is just that.

This recipe is also featured in the official tiktok cookbook. It’s that good!

Ingredients for this easy apple tart

Apples- For the apples I would suggest granny smith or honey crisp apples. Granny smith if you like that tart taste and honey crisp if you want it on the sweeter side.

Spices- Ground cinnamon, ginger powder and nutmeg are used to give this apple pie tart recipe that apple pie flavor.

Brown sugar- I love using brown sugar for the molasses content in it. Either light or dark work fine in this recipe.

Melted butter- The melted butter mixed together with the spices, brown sugar and apples makes a delicious rich flavor.

Puff pastry sheet- Puff pastry is used as our base as opposed to a pie crust. This makes the tart light, airy and flaky.

Egg Wash- An egg wash is brushed on the edges of the apple tarts to make a nice golden crust and prevent it from burning.

How to make an easy apple pie tart

To make this recipe, first we start by washing, coring and thinly slicing the apples. Feel free to peel the skin if you choose, I just happen to love the skin still on.

Mix the apples with the spices, sugar and melted butter. Layer the apples onto cut puff pastry and brush the edges with the egg wash.

Bake in your preheated oven and take out once golden brown.

Faqs and tips for this recipe

What kind of apples should I use? Granny smith, gala or honey crisp are my top choices but really any apple will work.

Where can I get frozen puff pastry sheets? I always buy my puff pastry sheets from the grocery store. They can typically be found in the frozen section next to the frozen pie crusts. The puff pastry usually comes with two sheets, so you could easily double this recipe if you would like to make more.
