Why you’ll love this recipe
I make this recipe every year when apple picking season comes around. It’s such a great alternative to making a whole apple pie. I love an easy, simple delicious dessert and this apple pie tart is just that.
This recipe is also featured in the official tiktok cookbook. It’s that good! Imagine buttery, flaky layers topped with tender apple slices, cinnamon, and a hint of nutmeg, all caramelized to golden perfection. This is the kind of treat that makes your kitchen smell amazing and keeps everyone coming back for more.

I love using puff pastry for these tarts because it does most of the work for you! Just slice, top, and bake. While they’re baking, the house fills up with that warm, spiced apple aroma, and in about 20 minutes, you’ve got beautiful little pastries that taste like they came straight from a bakery. I like to finish them with a dusting of powdered sugar for that extra touch, but honestly, they’re irresistible straight from the oven.
Ingredients for this easy apple tart

Apples- For the apples I would suggest granny smith or honey crisp apples. Granny smith if you like that tart taste and honey crisp if you want it on the sweeter side.
Spices- Ground cinnamon and nutmeg are used to give this apple pie tart recipe that apple pie flavor.
Brown sugar- I love using brown sugar for the molasses content in it. Either light or dark work fine in this recipe.
Melted butter- The melted butter mixed together with the spices, brown sugar and apples makes a delicious rich flavor.
Puff pastry sheet- Puff pastry is used as our base as opposed to a pie crust. This makes the tart light, airy and flaky.
Egg Wash- An egg wash is brushed on the edges of the apple tarts to make a nice golden crust and prevent it from burning.
How to make an easy apple pie tart
To make this recipe, first we start by washing, coring and thinly slicing the apples.

Feel free to peel the skin if you choose, I just happen to love the skin still on. I like to use a mandolin to slice the apples but you can use a knife as well.

Mix the apples with the spices, sugar and melted butter. Cut the puff pastry into six rectangles. Layer the apples onto cut puff pastry and brush the edges with the egg wash.

Bake in your preheated oven and take out once golden brown. Top with powdered sugar if you’d like.

Commonly Asked Questions
Granny smith, gala or honey crisp are my top choices but really any apple will work.
I always buy my puff pastry sheets from the grocery store. They can typically be found in the frozen section next to the frozen pie crusts. The puff pastry usually comes with two sheets, so you could easily double this recipe if you would like to make more.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for a few minutes to restore crispness.
