I love making this cotton candy grape sorbet recipe in the summertime as it get’s very hot in the city. It comes together in just about 10 minutes or less.

Three scoops of cotton candy grape sorbet in a glass bowl.

What are cotton candy grapes?

I absolutely love this grape variety! There’s a lot of misinformation out there, many people think these grapes are GMO but that isn’t true. Cotton candy grapes are a grape variety that’s a cross between two grapes. As a result of cross breeding the grapes have a very sweet taste that is akin to cotton candy.

Ingredients for cotton candy grape sorbet

The ingredients for this sorbet are very minimal. You will need the following:

Cotton Candy Grapes – I use 1lb of grapes. These grapes are not cheap like other grapes, so it really is a treat. They are seasonal and usually available in late summer around mid August.

Lime juice – The lime juice gives the sorbet a nice tartness and helps balance out the sugar. It also adds as additional liquid for blending.

Water – Water is needed to make the sorbet smooth and ready to scoop.

White sugar – Although the grapes are pretty sweet, I don’t think the ingredients combined is sweet enough so I like to add some sugar. But this is totally optional and you can leave it out.

No, cotton candy grapes are a grape variety that’s a cross between two grapes.

How to store leftover cotton candy grape sorbet?

Store in the freezer in an air tight container. It will freeze solid, so let it come to room temperature before you are ready to scoop and indulge again.

Can I use regular green grapes?

Yes, you absolutely can use regular green grapes. Since they are more tart I would up the sugar to 1/2 cup or use agave syrup.

Cotton Candy Grape Sorbet Recipe

By August DeWindt
Sweet and refreshing, this cotton candy grape sorbet is a fun way to cool down on a hot day.
Prep: 5 minutes
Cook: 5 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 1 lb cotton candy grapes
  • 2 tbsp lime juice
  • 3 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp white sugar

Instructions

  • Wash grapes, remove from vine and freeze for at least 7 hours. I froze my grapes overnight to ensure they were extra rock solid.
  • In a blender or food processor add in frozen grapes and blend. Ever so often take a spatula to scrape down the sides and blend again.
  • Once the grapes won’t blend anymore add in the lime juice, water and sugar. Continue to blend until smooth.
  • Now you’re pretty much done. Transfer into a container, smooth it out, scoop and enjoy!
