Easy Peach Cobbler Recipe

This easy peach cobbler recipe uses canned peaches, self rising flour and warm spices to create a golden buttery dessert that tastes like home.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter unsalted, 1 stick
  • 1 cup self rising flour see notes for substitutions
  • ½ c granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 c milk
  • 15 oz peaches in heavy syrup
  • ¼ c brown sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put a 9x9 baking dish with the stick of butter in it in the oven to melt.

  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Then add in the sugar and milk and mix until smooth. The consistency should be like pancake batter.

  • To another mixing bowl add the canned peaches with the syrup, brown sugar, lemon juice and vanilla extract. Give this mixture a good stir.

  • Take the baking dish with the butter out of the oven. Then pour half of the flour mixture on top of this and don’t mix.

  • Next, pour the peach mix on top of this and move the peaches around evenly. Sometimes if the canned peach slices are large, I'll cut a few in half.

  • Pour the remaining half of batter over the top of the peaches.

  • Bake in the pre-heated oven for 40 minutes or until golden brown on top.

  • Serve warm, eat and enjoy! I love to serve with vanilla ice cream!

Notes

What if I don’t have self-rising flour?
No problem, just use 1 cup all-purpose flour mixed with 1½ teaspoons baking powder and ¼ teaspoon salt.
